The global financial crisis is doing little for consumer confidence, but spending money on improving your home entertainment system could pay off in the long run.

In today’s financial climate everyone is desperately looking at ways to cut corners and save money.

Investing in home entertainment systems such as DVD recorders and surround sounds may be costly, but will save money in the long run, avoiding cinema queues and expensive extras like popcorn and drinks.

Even doing something as simple as investing in a large flat screen TV rather than a smaller screen can make a difference to the satisfaction you get out of it.

Owner and manager of Auztech Industries Sam Blacket says there are basic principles to getting the best in home entertainment while keeping your head above the technological jargon. With the price of LCD and plasma units dropping, professional installation is now more affordable than ever, when you consider the total package of costs. But what do you need to know?
