CEDIA Asia Pacific Expo continues to deliver

08 June 2012 | CEDIA News, Industry news
Despite persistent and ongoing weakness in the Australian economy and new home build market, an obvious and direct correlation to the custom electronic market, CEDIA Expo (held Brisbane, 9-11 May 2012) continues to provide a leading light for the industry.

Despite persistent and ongoing weakness in the Australian economy and new home build market, an obvious and direct correlation to the custom electronic market, CEDIA Expo (held Brisbane, 9-11 May 2012) continues to provide a leading light for the industry.

These are the positive reactions of attendees and exhibitors alike that look to CEDIA Expo as the only trade show for electronic systems professionals to develop their technical, installation and business skills and showcase innovative product solutions to improve market opportunities.

A sign of the maturation and insight Expo can provide could be seen in the diverse course offerings and keynote addresses that ranged from technologies in home healthcare, the cloud to consumer age and technology in consumer trends. With a further view to the future Dave Pedigo, CEDIA’s Senior Director of Technology, spoke of the emerging technologies and applications that will usher in the era of the intuitive home in the next 5 – 10 years.

Some other highlights of Brisbane’s first Expo included:

    • More than 4,700 attendees for both CEDIA and Build and Design Queensland Expo, with over 50% of those participants being first timers
and 70% of them being the decision-makers.

    • Co-location yet again with another industry partner exhibition who attracted building designers, architects, specifiers, interior designers and other key industry partners to the CEDIA show floor.

    • Co-location with Australian Institute of Architects (AIA) 2012 National Architecture Conference saw architects filter through onto the CEDIA show floor across all three days.

    • Offering 15 new education courses, 19 presentations in the Future Technologies Area and 33 Manufacturer Product Training sessions.
Although numbers were down from 2011 exhibitors’ exuded confidence from the quality of attendees and equally attendees appreciated the efforts of exhibitors and show organisers to deliver another professional Expo.

Exhibitor – Switch Automation - Deb Noller

“Despite the smaller number of exhibitors, the show was all quality from the exhibitors to the attendees…… Congratulations to the small hardworking crew over at CEDIA on a grand show.”

Exhibitor – Jonsa Ellies – Aldo Perez

“Our CEDIA 2012 experience as an exhibitor was a very rewarding event, the quality of the visitors to our stand was high and well educated in the AV market segment. We’ve been able to obtain a great number of business leads. The support that we’ve received from all the CEDIA team was superb, prior, during and after the show. 2012 CEDIA certainly has provided for us beyond our expectations.”

Visitor – Digital Living - Matthew Price

“The show looked great and we had a great time catching up with people and seeing new things. I really appreciate all CEDIA’s efforts and I did, as I have done in the past enjoy the show and got a lot out of it.”

Visitor – Electronic Living – Damian Cavanagh

“You guys did a magnificent job with the expo once again & we appreciate all your dedication & hard work. We are very lucky to have you supporting our industry, a job very well done!”

CEDIA management and the CEDIA board look to 2013 Expo with enthusiasm and developing opportunities with other associations and/or shows to increase awareness and reach of all its members across a diverse market.
