InFocus today announced the completion of an agreement to sell the rights to the Proxima and ASK projector trademark and brand assets to Acto, a Chinese contract manufacturer of projection products.

InFocus has held these trademarks since the June 2000 merger with ASK Proxima. The agreement covers the ASK, Proxima and ASK Proxima trademarks filed in several countries.

“Two years ago we made the strategic decision to streamline our marketing and sales initiatives by building on the strong recognition and legacy of the InFocus brand in the global digital display market," says InFocus chief executive Bob O’Malley.

“Selling the Proxima and ASK brands made sense as all of our resources are focused on growing the iconic InFocus brand.”

Acto evaluated the strength of the Proxima and ASK brands in its market and will revive these brands through marketing efforts for a new projector product line. InFocus and Acto are in the process of transferring ownership of the brand assets. This is scheduled for completion by the end of September 2010.
