Intelix compact USB over twisted pair solution

Intelix recently announced the release of the AVO-USB extender kit, a professional-grade solution for extending USB 1.1 and 2.0 signals over structured pair cabling, such as Cat 5 or Cat 6.

“We are excited to introduce the AVO-USB extender set,” Intelix sales and marketing manager Cameron Smith says.

“Intelix has a long history providing USB extension solutions; however, the AVO-USB is the first product which combines an extremely compact form-factor with professional-grade performance. Most solutions trade size for quality—the smaller you get the worse the signal—this isn’t the case with Intelix technology.”

Prior to the AVO-USB, remote USB devices such as cameras, printers, scanners, keyboards and mice were limited to only 5m via direct USB cables or required expensive secondary network equipment. Using the AVO-USB, remote devices may be connected up to 100m via inexpensive Cat 5 cabling at standard speed USB (1.5 Mbps) and up to 30m at full speed USB (12 Mbps).

The AVO-USB includes one transmitter for the client device and one receiver for the host device. Five volt power is supplied via the USB connection and no secondary power supply is required.

To use, simply connect the AVO-USB host balun to your source device, connect standard unshielded twisted pair cabling and connect the AVO-USB client balun to the destination device.
