Kaleidescape 2TB disk cartridges for 1U and 3U servers

Kaleidescape has announced disk cartridges for 1U and 3U servers.

Kaleidescape has announced disk cartridges for 1U and 3U servers.

These disk cartridges store twice the number of movies, doubling the maximum capacity of each server. A 1U server can now store up to 900 DVDs, and a 3U server up to 3,600.

Not only does the 2TB disk cartridge provide twice as much capacity, it also delivers greater efficiency. A 2TB disk cartridge consumes 12% less power than a 1TB disk cartridge and produces less heat.

The new capacity of the 3U server makes the 5U-to-3U server trade-up program even more attractive. Customers who upgrade from a 5U to a 3U server will have even more room for expansion. This program provides credit for as many disk cartridges as necessary to replace the storage capacity of the 5U server returned.

Kaleidescape 2TB disk cartridges are available now and are priced about 25% higher than 1TB disk cartridges. (Kaleidescape 1TB disk cartridges will be available by special order until 30 November 2009.)
