Pakedge Device & Software has introduced its K61 preconfigured router and gateway security appliance, designed to provide a high level of AV bridging and smart home networking performance, along with easy installation and robust network security.

The K61 includes the Pakedge R6V router and BR6 mounting bracket. It offers a wide array of connections including five internal switch ports to accommodate larger networks along with two WAN, USB management, console and DMZ ports. The DMZ port allows for easy connection of web servers, ftp servers or gaming consoles without additional configuration, and provides an extra level of security to a LAN (local area network) or WAN (wide area network). The USB port enables easy connection to the router’s GUI (graphical user interface) without having to know the router’s IP address.

The K61 operates at gigabit speed, to deliver the fastest possible internal network and WAN speeds to ensure reliable AV bridging performance for all connected devices.

The Pakedge K61 provides an extremely high level of parental and security protection. Its parental website control lets parents block questionable websites or website groups for the entire home, block websites on a user-defined schedule and block selected devices from questionable websites. The K61 includes a comprehensive array of additional pro-active security services that provide superior protection against IM/P2P traffic, phishing and pharming, and sophisticated blended threats. Security scanning is done within hardware (ASIC) rather than software, which results in increased network speed.

Like all Pakedge products, the K61 is designed for easy installation and reliable performance. It comes preconfigured for a wide variety of applications, from basic networks to complex residential systems. It features a reset button to easily restore the router to factory default settings if required. The K61 mounts in a standard 1U rack space.
