Pakedge Device & Software has introduced its S48 Fully Managed 48-Port Gigabit Ethernet Switch, which combines ease of installation with versatile features and is ideal for large-scale home networking, multiroom AV, security systems and enterprise-class applications that require maximum performance and reliability.

The S48 is a fully managed switch, allowing installers to configure its operation via either a command-line interface (CLI) for more sophisticated applications, or via a graphical user interface (GUI) via the web.

The S48 will be available pre-configured with a Pakedge router with four standard VLANs (Virtual Local Area Network) and one secure guest network VLAN, for reduced setup and installation time. Adding to its flexibility, the S48 has a port panel label that can be modified by the dealer according to the desired number of ports per VLAN.

All cables are installed from the rear. This feature was pioneered by Pakedge and unique to the custom-installation market, and enables a clean, uncluttered installation in a structured wiring panel, equipment rack, cabinet or on a shelf. Blue front-panel LED status indicators provide real-time status monitoring. The S48 is an SFP (small form-factor pluggable) fibre device, with a standard 1U rack space height (rack-mount hardware is included). Adding to its versatility, the S48 can be stacked to accommodate more complex installations.

The S48 has plug-and-play (NWay protocol) auto-negotiation capability, allowing it to auto-detect a connected device with the fastest available 10/100/1000 Mbps network speed. Its Auto-MDI/MDI-X port functionality eliminates the need for crossover cables to connect devices in the network. The S48 also provides two fiber SFP ports.

The Pakedge S48 Fully Managed 48-Port Gigabit Ethernet Switch comes with the switch unit, power cable, rack mount ears and quick-start guide.
