The Sony Tablet will arrive in Australia at the end of October. The WiFi-enabled Sony Tablet “S” will feature access to a wide variety of entertainment and applications straight out of the box, including movies, music and games from Sony’s collection of network services and content.

Featuring a large, high-quality display (9.4 inches) for viewing rich media content, the Sony Tablet will be available in 16GB and 32GB capacities. It also boasts a stand-out, asymmetrical design that has been crafted for stability and long-term usage. Sony Tablet “S” is equipped with Android 3.1 as well as the NVIDIATegra 2, dual-core mobile processor, and it weighs approximately 598g.

    Optimally designed hardware and software

Unlike other tablet devices, the Sony Tablet S has a unique asymmetric design which conveys stability and a sense of lightness, offering comfortable use for hours. Its screen is sloped when placed onto a flat surface, thus enhancing screen visibility and making typing functions more comfortable.

Placing Sony Tablet S onto a specialised cradle (sold separately) adds convenience by allowing use of the device as a digital photo frame or a digital clock which pushes information that users want.

Sony Tablet is equipped with a TruBlack display which controls and reduces glare and reflections from sunlight or fluorescent light for high contrast and visibility for strain free use indoors or outdoors.

    Features

Quick view: Sony’s rapid response technologies efficiently load website information for faster loading
Quick touch: Highly responsive and smooth touch screen through a combination of Sony technologies
Software keyboard: Large keys take advantage of the large screen; keyboard automatically adjusts to your actions by, for instance, revealing a numeric pad when inputting passwords. In addition, it offers word suggestions and auto word complete

ony Tablet owners can access Sony’s premium video service, “Video Unlimited”, which offers the latest releases from major and local studio for download. A pre-open campaign for the Sony Tablet will be offered at the device launch. The grand opening of the service will be within this year. Sony’s cloud-based digital music service “Music Unlimited” will also be available in October, with access to a global catalogue of over 10 million unique songs from major labels, leading independent labels and publishers worldwide.

    PlayStation Certified

Sony Tablet is the first PlayStationCertified tablet on which users can enjoy games for PlayStation Certified devices including original PlayStation games. “Crash Bandicoot” and “Pinball Heroes” will be preinstalled at launch.

    Cross device connectivity

Enjoying content from Sony Tablet on other devices: users can “throw” pictures, videos and music to other devices at the touch of a button, including DLNA compatible televisions like Sony’s BRAVIA range; also enjoy music from the device via WiFi speakers

Controlling other devices with Sony Tablet: users can easily set up their Sony Tablet S, which is equipped with infrared technology, to act as a remote control for multiple devices such as televisions and other devices at once; Sony Tablet is also compatible with “Media Remote” which allows control of Sony devices including BRAVIA TVs via WiFi
